Sensei Paul Jackman

4 Time - World Koshiki Champion

Sensei Paul Jackman began studying the martial arts at the age of 11 in Trinidad and Tobago where he grew up and lived his child and adolescent years. 

He studied under the instruction of Master Don Jacobs, head instructor and founder of the Purple Dragon Karate Federation. Paul practiced throughout his early adolescent years and eventually Left the Purple Dragon School, to pursue his academic goals through Andrew's University, where he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a major in Management and a minor in Accounting. After Graduating University, Sensei Jackman returned to Canada to pursue his career goals. 

Upon returning to Canada, his first goal was to resume his training in the Martial Arts and shortly after he met Shihan Hubert O'brien, head instructor of the London Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate club. 

Sensei Jackman was greatly inspired by Shihan O'brien and the training methods of the Shorinjiryu system, which allowed contact training and competition in the Koshiki Tournament system and in 2000 qualified for his first World Koshiki Karatedo Championships in Sydney Australia. There he met Hanshi Masayuki Hisataka 10th Dan Headmaster of Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karate and founder of the Koshiki System, who invited him to come to Japan and become his 1st generation student.

 Since then Kiyoshi Paul Jackman has been a dedicated disciple of Hanshi Hisataka and one of the world's top competitors in Koshiki Karate Competition and a senior board member for the World Koshiki Karatedo Federation.

 2016 Promoted to 7th dan in Koshiki Karatedo

 2016, Appointed Chairman of the organizing committee for the 2017 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships to be held July 2017, London Ontario

 2016, Appointed to the World Koshiki Karatedo Federation Executive Committee, and named as Technical Advisor for the WKKF

 2016 Lead Canadian Junior Team to the first world koshiki karatedo junior championships

 2015 Gold medal light Weight Division

 2015 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships Gold Coast Austrailia, 3rd place Kata Division

 2013 Headed Canadian Team at the 2013 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships and also won Bronze Medal in the Light Weight division and Bronze medal on the Kata division

 2011 Appointed Board member for the Canadian Koshiki Karatedo Association 

2011 Promoted to 5th dan in Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo and 6th Dan in Koshiki Karatedo

 Masayuki Hisataka 10th Dan, Ontario Canada Gold Mrdal Kata Division

 2011 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships, Tokyo Japan

 2009 Gold Medal Light Weight division

 2009 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships, Tokyo Japan, 2nd place Kata Division

 2007 Gold Medal Light Weight Division

 2007 World Koshiki Karatedo Championships, Montreal Canada. 3rd place Kata Division 

2005 Promoted to 4th Dan Shorinji ryu Kenkokan Karatedo and 5th Dan in Koshiki Karatedo Masayuki Hisataka 10th Dan, Kudaka Island, Okinawa

 2005 Silver Medal Light Weight Division

 2005 Japan Open Koshiki Karate Championships June 2005, Tokyo Japan

 2004 Bronze Medal Light Weight Division, World Koshiki Karate Championships, August 2004, Greece.

 2003 (Demonstration Sport During The Olympic Games) World Light Weight Koshiki Karate Champion (Gold Medal), World Koshiki Karate Championships

2003 Lisbon Portugal

 2000 accepted as a student by Masayuki Hisataka Hanshi 10th Dan and promoted to 3rd Dan in Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo and 4th Dan in Koshiki Karatedo

 2000 Middle Weight Member of the 2000 Canadian National Koshiki Team which placed 4th at the 12th World Championships in Sydney Australia. 

At present Shihan Paul Jackman runs several dojo’s in the Toronto and London areas of Ontario and is the official Head Coach for the Canadian National Team. 

This year 2017 by mandate of the World Koshiki Karatedo Federation, Shihan Jackman is heading up an effort to expand Koshiki Karate into the areas of Pan America that have yet to be exposed to the art of Koshiki Karatedo. Shihan Paul Jackman has taught many international seminars around the world and will be publishing his First Book on Karatedo this year, focusing on Karate techniques and principles for contact fighting.
